Aqua Robur at World Utilities Congress: Bringing Swedish Innovation to Abu Dhabi

Earlier this month, our CEO Robert Andersson represented Aqua Robur Technologies at the World Utilities Congress in Abu Dhabi, where he was invited to present our self-powered IoT solution for monitoring water networks.

Robert’s presentation at the Technical Conference sparked strong interest from senior leaders and stakeholders in the region’s energy and water sectors. It became clear that our solution directly aligns with Abu Dhabi’s strategic goals for sustainable water infrastructure — particularly in tackling the challenges of resilience, resource efficiency, and digital transformation.

Following the presentation, Aqua Robur was invited to join the exclusive Leadership Roundtable, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy. There, Robert engaged in strategic dialogue alongside ministers, utility executives and global experts to help shape the region’s water and energy future. It was an honorable achievement to be part of this prestigeous and insightful event.

Concrete follow-up discussions have already begun, and we’re now actively exploring installation opportunities in collaboration with local partners.

Welcome home, Robert — and thank you for putting Aqua Robur innovation on the global stage.

Key takeaways

  1. Real-time data is essential to tackle water loss and inefficiency
Across sessions and discussions, the importance of actionable, real-time monitoring came through clearly — especially for managing non-revenue water and early leak detection. With our focus on remote monitoring, including a self-powered solution that operates without external energy or additional communication infrastructure, we are strongly positioned to help utilities solve this challenge efficiently.
  2. Scalable digitalization is moving from pilot to mainstream
From panel discussions to technical roundtables, it was evident that utilities are no longer just exploring digital solutions — they are looking for systems that can scale quickly and deliver immediate operational value.
  3. Policy must accelerate to match innovation
UAE’s water & energy leadership noted that while technology is advancing fast, policy and regulation must keep pace to enable widespread adoption. It was valuable to see that Aqua Robur cannot only contribute with proven solutions, but also engage in strategic dialogue — such as the Leadership Roundtable hosted by the Department of Energy — to help shape the enabling environment.
