Inflow and Infiltration Water Investigation

Through the installation of level, precipitation, flow, pressure, and/or temperature sensors on the pipelines, we can efficiently investigate inflow and inflitration of water. This approach comes with multiple benefits, such as optimise system performance and plan for capacity requirements.

Our solution involves extended investigations into inflow, accounting for factors such as construction projects and misconnections, rather than relying solely on time-based assessments during heavy rainfall. It is adaptable and season-independent, aiming to improve control over the wastewater network while reducing resource consumption at treatment plants. A thorough examination of inflow and infiltration contributes to more efficient and sustainable water and sewage system management.

How it works

Installation

From the lowest point on the network, near the treatment plant, the area is strategically divided into manageable zones based on the number of connections. Using radar sensors, the level in each zone is precisely measured. This measurement offers insights into the flow during low-consumption periods within the zone and is utilized for comparisons with equivalent zones, aiding in prioritization.

Data Collection

The sensors consistently gather data on the network's status.

Data Transfer

The collected data is securely transmitted to the cloud, facilitating real-time monitoring and providing remote access to the information. NB-IoT/LTE-M eliminates the requirement for a fiber connection.

The collected data is analysed to identify anomalies or situations that may indicate the infiltration of additional water into the pipelines. The data is visualised in the dashboards of the IoT Portal to provide a comprehensive view of the network.

Alarm at threshold levels

If the water level exceeds the set threshold values, the system generates an alarm. Users receive notifications via email or SMS, enabling real-time intervention.
